Michael A. Calabrese, the principal of this firm, became interested in working in the construction field in 1977. He has since been a hands-on, multi-skilled tradesman and contractor, acquiring his certification (CMRC #79162, CMI #79243) in microbial inspections and remediation in 2009; a California general building contractor’s license (#496208) in1986; a part-time California vocational teaching credential in 1989; began working as an independent industry expert for the California Contractor’s State License Board (CSLB) in 1992; and received a CSLB Arbitration Appointment in 1995.
Over the past fourteen years his focus has shifted to an emphasis on developing his technical and consulting skills in construction forensics, and continues to expand his knowledge, expertise and credentials in microbial inspections for mold and lead testing and remediation, and is pursuing OSHA certification in construction health and safety.
Through his many years experience in the building trades, association with the Contractor’s State License Board arbitration and Industry Expert programs, and introduction to paralegal studies, he has successfully assisted lawyers, deputy attorneys general and insurance professionals in litigating complicated and simple cases relating to a wide range of construction matters.
His specialty areas are: tracing the cause and origin of water intrusion resulting in mold growth and collateral damage; personal injury resulting from faulty construction components; job site safety; standards of care applied; contractor professional diligence; California contractor license laws; earthquake repair and cost analyses; cost estimates for building repairs and remodeling; cost comparisons and analyses.
Mr. Calabrese proudly served for three years as a volunteer, both on the Board of Directors and as Construction Committee Chairman for Habitat For Humanity Los Angeles.
