For over seven years he arbitrated cases under appointment by the Department of Consumer Affairs (DAC), and the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB), through the employ of an independent tribunal (Arbitration works, Incorporated). He was a panelist on the CSLB's "Industry Expert" program and was selected to serve on their "Earthquake Response Team" in 1996.
He continues to provide technical services and information in his private expert practice, catering to a client base which includes lawyers, insurance professionals, consumers, business owners, homeowners and contractors. To this day he works out in the field conducting expert inspections, forensic microbial surveys and inspections, and working with tools of the trades on remodeling, repairing and construction projects, as well as supervising sub-contractors and crewmen.
Among many other volunteer contributions, Mr. Calabrese served proudly on the board of directors, and as construction committee chairman for the Los Angeles chapter of Habitat For Humanity for three years, and joined in swinging his hammer along-side crew leaders and other volunteers during the Jimmy Carter Project in 1995.
